Race Weekend 11/8/13-11/10/13

Post by Matthew on 11/9/2013, 12:05 pm

Coming down to the wire right now. Just two more races to go before the 2013 champion is crowned. If I can get my focus back, with a little luck, the next champion will be me!!! We're 10 points down right now, and the guy leading the points is really fast at the last two tracks. If we're going to have a legitimate shot at this championship, we're probably going to need to put the #23 Chevrolet into victory lane this weekend. Luckily, this track is one of my favorites. It's the first track I ever won a race at, and if there was anywhere I'd like to be in an all or nothing situation, it's here. I'm gonna be driving as hard as I can this weekend, and I'm not letting up until that checkered flag falls. We've got a Marine Corps scheme on the car this weekend, and it'd be great if I can get it to victory lane. I guess we'll just have to see where we're running coming off of that final turn though. A win this weekend would be incredible. It would be the 10th time that the #23 Chevrolet has seen victory lane, and the 6th time I would be the one getting it there. It would also mean that I would have doubled the previous record of most wins by a rookie, and, let's face it, that would be pretty awesome!!! I'm just going to drive it like I know I can and hope for the best. One thing's for sure, although we're 10 points down, we ain't ready to quit just yet!!!

I haven't been this tired in a long time. After being up all night last night and pretty much all day today for a LONG day of practice and qualifying, I feel like I just going to fall over on the spot. It was a pretty decent day though, and now I'm really looking forward to the race. To start off the day, we set the fastest time in practice by a couple of tenths. And luckily, we were able to carry that speed over into qualifying... POLE BABY!!! The guys worked so hard on getting that car set up perfect today, and it definitely paid off. It's going to be the 7th time this season that the #23 Chevrolet is going to lead the field to the green, and it could not have come at a better time. With a little skill and a lot of luck, we may even be able to hold on to that top spot and put the #23 Marine Corps Chevrolet into victory lane again!!!

Matthew: Yeah, a pillow, blanket, and alarm clock. The setup is so good that the thing is driving itself.

Radio Communication
Ray: Time to start playing some strategy buddy. We need to stop one more time, but we’ve got to decide on four tires and two cans, or two tires and one can.
Matthew: How are we looking with either of those options?
Ray: Four tires and we’re definitely to the good. Two tires we’ll be pushing it, but we’ll get back out there faster.
Matthew: My tires are newer than the guy behind me. He’s going to need to come in first, so let’s see what he does.
Ray: Good call.
