Race Weekend 11/15/13-11/17/13

Post by Matthew on 11/11/2013, 8:11 pm

Well, we're starting early this week because we've got a lot to go over before the weekend. This is it!!! The grand finale!!! I don't know what's going to happen, but I know it's going to be awesome. It doesn't get much more dramatic than this, heading into the final race with a tie for the points lead. All we have to do is finish in front of Tommy Sanders in the #14, and we've got this thing won! It's going to be tough though. We're going to a track that I've never been at before, and I'm going to need to be a quick learner if we want to take home the championship. We just need to perform like we know we're capable of. This team has had unbelievable success all year, and we need to have that again this weekend. It's a long shot, but lets not forget that miracles happen everyday!!!

As some fans may know, we're trying to come up with two songs for this coming weekend, one to play while I walk out during introductions, and one to play if we end up winning the championship.  I'd like to get the opinions of everyone else involved in this as well.  If there's a song that you think I should play for one or the other, message me, and I'll add it to a list of songs to consider.  If someone has already suggested that song, I'll add a vote to that selection.  Right now, the following songs seem to be the most popular of all the one's suggested:

Introduction:
- "Livin' on a Prayer" Bon Jovi
- "Kashmir" Led Zepplin
- "Not Afraid" Eminem
- "Afterlife" Switchfoot
- "Ready to Roll" Jet Black Stare

Champion:
- "Roar" Katy Perry
- "Sweet Victory" David Glen Eisley
- "We Are the Champions" Queen
- "Don't Stop Believin'" Journey
- "It's Over" Jet Black Stare

Let me know what you think, everyone.  We have until Friday to pick them!!!

Analysts say that statistical testings gives Stellfox a 35.71% chance of winning the 2013 FRS Championship.

And we have a winner!!! Or winners rather.  I think we've decided on the two songs that we'll submit for my introduction and in case we win the championship.  For introductions, I will be walking out to "Ready to Roll" by Jet Black Stare.  If we can take the championship, we'll be playing "Sweet Victory" by David Glen Eisley from Champions' Row.

So who else is pumped for the finale?! I know I am!!! As if a random post at 4:30 am wouldn't convey that itself. Very Happy Man, I can't wait to get out on that track one last time and just leave it all out there. We can do this!!!

After a terrible qualifying run, the #23 Goodyear Chevrolet will be starting from 23rd on the grid while Tommy Sanders sits comfortably in 6th.

Expert Picks

Expert #1 (Stellfox)- “The kid’s got six wins this season, and I think that speaks for itself. He has an immense amount of talent, and his on track performance, if it remains what it has been, is going to be enough for him to win the championship.”

Expert #2 (Sanders)- “It’s not so much that Sanders is going to win it, but that Stellfox is going to lose it. The kid’s talented, but he’s young and inexperienced. This is going to be the first time that Stellfox has raced at this track, and I just don’t think he’s going to be able to learn the track fast enough to beat out Sanders.”

Expert #3 (Sanders)- “Sanders has a lot more experience than Stellfox. He’s won three championships in his career, and he knows how to get it done. Stellfox is coming into the finale without seat-time, and I think that’s really going to show when the green falls.”

Expert #4 (Sanders)- “I don’t feel like Stellfox is going to be focused enough to bring it home today. He’s had a lot of rough things going on recently, both on and off the racetrack. I think that these events are going to severely affect his performance, and stop him from winning this championship.”

Expert #5 (Stellfox)- “It’s all about momentum, and right now, Stellfox has about as much of that as you can get. Just winning last week would have given him enough momentum to take this thing, and not only did he win, but he started on pole, led every lap, and won. That’s an unprecedented event, and he’s going into the finale with plenty of confidence after that. He’s going to win it.”

Expert #6 (Sanders)- “All you’ve got to do is look at the statistics. Stellfox has two DNFs and seven penalties this season. On top of that, the team has had every kind of problem you can think of from overheating, to electrical, and to a broken drive shaft and steering column. They’ve had issues all around, some that were their fault, and some that were just mechanical failures. Either way, if these issues continue today, Stellfox is going to lose this championship.”

Expert #7 (Stellfox)- “He’s the underdog, plain and simple. A lot of people think that the underdog doesn’t stand a chance, but in many cases, it’s advantages to be in that position. That’s the case here. Sanders probably isn’t expecting too much of a fight for the title, and that’s a dangerous way of thinking. By thinking like this, he’s not going to push as hard as he would if he thought he really needed to fight. I think he’s going to relax too much during the race and end up giving it away.”

It's going to be a late night tonight.  Right now, we're getting all ready for the "Midnight Madness" of the FRS Season Finale.  We're starting pretty far back while Sanders is up at the front, but I'm just going to focus on getting up there, leaving it all on the track, and taking this championship!

I just walked out to the biggest cheer that I've ever heard for myself. I'm about to jump in the car now, but something like that give you a lot of confidence for the race.
