Race Weekend 10/11/13-10/13/13

I can't believe I'm saying this, but for the first time since late May, I'm not looking forward to the race this weekend.  It's not that we're not good at this track... we are.  We've raced here twice before, one points and one non-points, and we finished 6th and 3rd respectively.  There's just a few unrelated issues going on right now, and my heart just isn't gonna be in it this weekend.  Ray offered to find a replacement driver, but I would feel even worse than I do now if I ended up letting my fans down.  Hopefully, come race day, we'll get ourselves a good start and be able to settle down and just worry about racing.  We have had success here... and come to think of it, I was experiencing similar issues the last time we were here.  It wasn't quite as severe last time, but it's still looking on the bright side knowing that I can still perform under unrelated stress here.  On the other hand, something bad has been going on every time we've been to this track... maybe I should just stop racing here.  But if I have any hope of having a decent race, I'm gonna need to get some real rest... I haven't slept in a few days.  I wouldn't be able to function without a 5-Hour Energy.

Thank God for self-control! I understand that the announcers and track personnel are just doing their job, and I usually don't mind a quick interview when I'm at the track... but tonight, they've reached an all time low. The last thing I wanted tonight was to have a bunch of people run over to me, stick some recorders in my face, and ask me what they did. For some reason, they felt in necessary to ask questions about how a recent stressful event will affect my performance, and if it's going to hurt our chances for the championship this year. I mean, what do they think?! Of course it's going to affect my performance... just like anything else that would prevent me from giving my full focus to a race would. And obviously, that's going to affect our chances to win the championship. But what was I suppose to say?! I just told them that I was going to try not to let it get to me and that our focus was still on the championship. These people just don't think!!! It really took a lot for me to stop myself from just punching one of them.

So, after an absolutely TERRIBLE qualifying run, the #23 Goodyear Chevrolet will be starting from 37th on the grid.

Well, finished up the morning practice session with the 36th fastest time. We better get a lot faster before the drop of the green, or it's not going to be a good race.
